Physical literacy is the ability to use a range of fundamental movement skills in a competent manner, with the capacity to apply them with confidence in a range of settings that can lead to sustained involvement in sport and physical activity.

Physically literate children will be able to perform a range of fundamental movement skills e.g. hop, climb or catch at levels of agility, balance and coordination appropriate to their capabilities. A child’s movement confidence will develop as they become more competent in performing these skills. Most children’s first entry into the physical world of sport and physical education is in primary school. At ActivePlaygrounds we can ensure that your playground will provide the necessary environment for children to develop.

Prime Minister David Cameron announced a renewed package of funding for PE and school sport. Through a new 'Sport Premium' the Government is providing £150 million in each of the next two years to support the delivery of PE and sport in primary schools.

This funding will be allocated directly to primary schools across England, providing them with dedicated resource to buy in invaluable expertise and support.

At Active Playgrounds we can advise schools how to utilise this funding to improve the physical literacy of their pupils through playground markings and training.
